H. M. S. "Robin", Kumchuk,

28th September 1900.

110

Sir,

I have the honour to request that in the event

of my being stoned at any place, and a repetition of the

stoning baking place I may be allowed to use force to

stop the British Mlar being insulted in this manner. If

the authorities at any place can not or will not stop

these insults it is high time that we did. The "Robin"

& "Sandpiper" are the laughing stock of the Chinese at

present, as they can be stoned with impunity.

I have, etc.
